5 Fun Ways to Keep Your Kids Active During the Summer Holidays!

Summer holidays are the perfect time to create lasting memories and keep our kids active and engaged. At Roarsome Sport, we believe in the power of physical activity to boost health, happiness, and family bonding. Here are five fantastic ways to incorporate activity into your summer days out:

1.     Nature Walks and Scavenger Hunts

Explore local parks, nature reserves, or even your neighbourhood with a fun treasure hunt! Create a list of items to find, like different types of leaves, flowers, or even hidden treasures. It’s a great way to keep kids moving while sparking their curiosity about the natural world. Take a look online for some inspirational scavenger hunt sheets.

2.     Beach Games and Water Fun

Heading to the beach? Bring along a football, frisbee, or beach ball for some energetic games on the sand. Building sandcastles, playing beach volleyball, or splashing in the waves are perfect ways to stay active while enjoying the sun and surf. If you’re not off to the beach how about finding a splash pad? Try Markeaton Park, Derby or Victoria Park, Stafford.

3.     Biking Adventures

Plan a family bike ride along scenic trails. Biking is a fantastic cardiovascular workout that kids love. Pack a picnic and make a day of it, exploring new places and enjoying the great outdoors together. Try Cannock chase, the Tissington Trail or Manifold track.

4.     Outdoor Sports and Games

Set up mini sports activities in your garden or a nearby park. Whether it’s a game of football, rounders, or even a family relay race, these activities keep everyone moving and foster a spirit of friendly competition. You don’t need lots of kit. How about taking a frisbee and trying a game of Ultimate Frisbee.

5.     Visit Local Attractions with a Twist

Many local attractions like zoos, and theme parks involve plenty of walking. Turn the visit into an active adventure by setting challenges, such as counting how many animals you see, or seeing who can rack up the most steps on a pedometer. Lots of attractions have a play area so include time to play here and get your fill of climbing too.

Keeping active during the summer holidays doesn’t have to be a chore. With a little creativity, you can turn any outing into an opportunity for exercise and fun. Let’s make this summer a Roarsome one filled with exciting activities and happy, healthy kids!
