Celebrating School Sports Week — Why Quality PE Matters More Than Ever

This week marks School Sports Week, a celebration of why daily movement and teamwork belong at the heart of every child’s experience. And it couldn’t come at a better time—especially with the PE & Sport Premium ring-fenced funding confirmed again by the UK government.

🏫 What Is the PE & Sport Premium?

The PE & Sport Premium provides dedicated funding to primary schools to enhance their PE provision. This money must be spent on improving physical education and can’t be diverted elsewhere and funding has been confirmed for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Purpose? To ensure at least two hours of high-quality PE per week and build capacity for sustainable sports provision.

🌿 Why High‑Quality PE?

  • Health & Wellbeing: Regular PE reduces chronic illness risk and improves fitness .
  • Personal & Academic Growth: Adapted PE supports confidence, social skills, and emotional regulation—important especially for those with SEND.
  • Teacher Development: Funding ensures teachers receive CPD and support to deliver structured, engaging lessons.

🎒 My Role During School Sports Week

I’m pleased to be invited into two local schools this week to deliver demos as part of their celebrations. My aim? To showcase how Roarsome Sport uses creative, inclusive PE to engage children—no matter their age, ability, or interest level.

From high-energy relay races to sensory yoga, I

  • Encourage active participation,
  • Minimise idle time–no endless queues or waiting,
  • Offer tailored support so every child can thrive.

✨ Why It Matters

Even with funding in place, many schools struggle to find time and expertise to deliver quality PE. That’s where specialist providers like me can help—turning your PE & Sport Premium into tangible, joyful outcomes.

Imagine:

  • Children choosing physical activity over screens,
  • Teachers confident to lead engaging PE lessons,
  • Whole-school improvements to health and wellbeing.
