It’s a bank holiday Monday and we’re heading into half-term – hooray!
Whether you’ve got big adventures planned or you’re staying local, it’s a brilliant chance to get the kids moving, exploring, and having fun.
Here are a few simple outdoor ideas to try this week, whatever the weather brings:
🌳 Climb a tree – We love a good scramble! One of our favourites is the Chained Oak at Dimmingsdale, Alton (yep, the one behind the Alton Towers Hex legend).
🌊 Heading to the beach? Wave jumping is a must, even if it’s wellies in the shallows! You might even find treasure. Did you know a rare Lego octopus once washed up in Cornwall from a 1997 container spill?
💦 Puddle potions – Grab a good stick and get mixing! Stir those puddles, splash to your heart’s content, cast a spell, or create a magical swamp recipe.
Getting outside and moving has so many benefits, for kids and grown-ups. A blast of fresh air can do wonders, especially after a few rainy days cooped up in a tent, caravan, or apartment.
And remember, kids love being outdoors. It’s usually us grown-ups who shy away from the wet and windy stuff! So pack your waterproofs alongside the picnic, and enjoy a few hours in nature this half-term.
Happy splashing, clambering, and treasure hunting!
See you soon,
Kate 🌿
