Health
Being active has huge positive benefits on health for everyone, young and old and it is good for physical and mental health. Here at Roarsome Sports we aim to foster a love of sport and movement for life, so they can have fun in our classes now and continue to enjoy sport when they move on from our classes. At Roarsome sport we offer a range of sports so that your child can find at least one that they really love and want to stick with and to continue to lead an active lifestyle.Respect for rules
Respect for rules
Throughout Roarsome Sport sessions children are taught to listen, to follow instructions and to play games by the rules. Here at Roarsome Sport we don’t play a full ‘game’, it just doesn’t give everyone an equal chance to take part, but we have lots of mini games and activities and everyone has to play by the rules, follow instruction and stop playing when they’re told to. This stands them in great stead for starting school.
Social skills
Our classes are small with a maximum of 14 children so we know your child will start to make friends with the other children in their class. Classes always involve elements of teamwork, our parachute games usually involve lots of working together while having fun.
Physical development
The Roarsome Sport programme is specifically designed to develop balance, agility and co-ordination and each session will have a focus on one of these three skills. We hope to develop your Little Sports Stars fundamental movements, this includes running, jumping, throwing, catching, skipping, kicking, striking, fielding and hopping. The sports we play have been chosen to have a good mixture of handling balls with hands, feet, bats, sticks and rackets. Alongside the fundamentals we are developing familiarity and the beginnings of sport specific skills.
Confidence
We see the children that come to Roarsome Sport classes really develop their confidence. They are more confident in their physical abilities every week, they come to sessions more willing to trying doing something that looks tricky because they had success last week. They are confident talking to the coach and to each other, communicating tactics or demonstrating skills learned. Its great to see and is something that transfers across to all aspects of their life, from giving them confidence on the balance beam at the park to feeling able to speak up in the classroom.
Teamwork
Children learn to work as a team in lots of our activities. Whether its learning to pass a ball together or manipulating the parachute for a game there’s lot of opportunities to work together, communicate and have fun.
