I can’t quite believe we’re in March already—2025 is moving so quickly!
This week, I had two completely different outdoor experiences with my girls. The first was a bike ride at Cannock Chase—which started in decent weather but quickly turned into a downpour. You know that famous saying:
“There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.”
Well, we put that theory to the test!
I had waterproofs packed for the girls (because I never leave home without them), but my eldest refused to wear hers. Of course, she was the one who took a tumble into a muddy puddle—luckily, her Wonder Woman dress and tights absorbed most of it! Meanwhile, my little one, kitted out in waterproofs and Daddy’s woolly hat, was having the time of her life on the trike.
Fast forward to today, and we were in the garden, soaking up the sunshine, swinging, playing in the mud kitchen, and tidying up. Two completely different days—but you know what? The girls loved both experiences.
Why Outdoor Play Matters—Rain or Shine
Getting kids outside has huge benefits for their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Whether it’s:
✅ Running, climbing, and jumping to develop balance, coordination, and strength
✅ Exploring different textures and environments for sensory development
✅ Problem-solving and resilience-building (like figuring out how to get through muddy trails!)
Even on the rainy days, we always end up feeling better after a bit of fresh air and movement. And if the weather is really against us, there’s always Roarsome Sport—our indoor multi-sport classes for children aged 2-7 in Uttoxeter!
